Phoenix Homes Hours & Reviews 5985 Renaud Rd, Ottawa, ON K1C 7G4 Canada Online

Never once did I see poor workmanship and “good enough” scenarios from the workers. We did our first walk-through prior to the interior finishing and approved everything since there were no surprises. A couple or so months later, we did our second and final walk-through just prior to our taking possession and brought in an expert to assist us. The house was structurally very sound and the finishing was expertly done with a few cosmetic details that were quickly taken cared of prior and shortly after we moved in. Next was the real fun part – selecting all of the materials that went into finishing our house such as flooring, counter tops and cabinets, type and colour of bricks and siding.

They build expensive units a dime a dozen with some of the worst quality I’ve seen, cutting corners every chance. Then they won’t sell it to people who will actually live in them, only investors. Money hungry pigs and anyone who deals with them are no better. Regarding this Phoenix home in particular, there are two possible scenarios. If you absolutely love the home and it is already built and available for thorough inspection by your experts, then it's worth considering. Since that time, Phoenix Homes has built more than 2,000 homes throughout the region, quickly gaining a reputation for superior craftsmanship and meticulous attention to detail.

There are several very good builders in the city, that build only a few homes per year. This way you will assure your satisfaction, and the prices will be comparative. If you are looking for a new home in the Ottawa area, you’ve come to the right place.

On our way back to our old house, we passed by a “Phoenix Homes” sign and decided to give it one more shot. As we turned around to leave, the door of the sales office was unlocked and we were greeted by the best sales person ever! They treated us with genuine concern and provided us with all the information that we needed. I would certainly recommend that no one purchase a home from Pheonix Homes. In the show room we were rushed through the selection process, they mislead us regarding window ratings , the carpet and under-pad we ordered was not now what was installed etc.

Home Van's Aircraft Total Performance RV Kit Planes

KITPLANES Editor in Chief Marc Cook has been in aviation journalism for more than 30 years. He is a 4000-hour instrument-rated, multi-engine pilot with experience in nearly 150 types. He’s completed two kit aircraft, an Aero Designs Pulsar XP and a Glasair Sportsman 2+2, and currently flies a 2002 GlaStar.

Avoiding mission creep is the only way to stay within a modest budget. Paul Dye, KITPLANES® Editor at Large, retired as a Lead Flight Director for NASA’s Human Space Flight program, with 40 years of aerospace experience on everything from Cubs to the Space Shuttle. An avid homebuilder, he began flying and working on airplanes as a teen, and has experience with a wide range of construction techniques and materials. He flies an RV-8 that he built, an RV-3 that he built with his pilot wife, as well as a Dream Tundra they completed.

Landing Gear

Figure out what you’re really going to do with an airplane, find one that does it, and get to work. The enthusiasm for the project was huge, but flaws manifested themselves from the BD-10’s very first flight. This didn’t dampen the enthusiasm of aviation publications, and big-name aviation legends such as Bob Hoover and Gene Cernan were hired by the company to pitch the aircraft.

To maintain the level of effort needed to succeed, you have to have a compelling reason to complete and fly that particular airplane. That motivation is as personal as the individual builder. For some, it’s the only way to get the machine they dream of flying. Others enjoy the act of construction itself or see the project as a personal work of art. So a friend built a motorglider and started flying it about 90 minutes per day. He’d climb for about 15 or 20 minutes, shut down that motor, and soar.

Sonex

If you follow Sonex’s worksheet, a completed Sonex-B or Waiex-B could be in your grasp for less than $40,000. At 350 pounds empty against an 800-pound maximum-gross weight, the Hawk Plus has good payload. Cruise speed is listed as between 60 and 80 mph, so whatever it is you’re carrying in the back won’t need to get there too quickly.

I want to replicate the tandem seat configuration of the PC-9. This was my first kit aircraft project, and I while I enjoy building stuff, I really wanted to be flying, so an aircraft with a good probability of completion in a reasonable time period was important. A stable company with good customer support and popular models also played into my deliberations. It’s interesting to note that most involve an investment of $35k-$50k dollars and countless hours to construct. Some factory-built airplanes can be had for less than that and you can be flying TODAY. Many of these projects are started and are handed off to many other builders along the way before they take to the skies.

Airdrome Aeroplanes Sopwith Camel

But I still didn’t have the brass ring—my own warbird. In 1994, I flew it from California to Oshkosh, where it earned an EAA award for innovative design and became the cover story for the October 1994 Sport Aviation. The seed of the idea was planted by the cover article on the Dyke Delta in the July 1972 issue of Air Progress. I was 16 at the time, and while I lacked the technical education to fully understand why the Dyke Delta worked, I was impressed by both its performance and radical look. To me, the difficulties inherent with the RV-3B made it a particularly attractive project. The skins didn’t have prepunched holes, for example, and some of the parts didn’t fit as well as they might have.

home built jet plane kits

During my time at Cornell, I started building a KR-2 with my father, who suggested a plansbuilt project as a learning exercise before we started on the original-design delta. I now understand that my dad saw my still-developing engineering skills were not yet to the point where I could design a safe airplane. The KR-2 project was his way of supporting my long-term dream while postponing the delta project until I had the ability to do it right. But after spending the majority of my adult life building and flying experimental airplanes, my advice is that if you want to build an airplane, buy a kit. There’s a world of satisfaction and pleasure in building a kit aircraft, without the grinding grunt work.

MADE IN THE U.S.AKITFOX AIRCRAFT

At about 30 cubic feet, it’s not only enormous for a Light Sport Aircraft , it’s enormous for any two seat airplane. As one might expect, the space is, shall we say, density sensitive. Gross weight and center-of-gravity limits are obviously governing factors.

Working commercial pilots operating jet or turboprop aircraft can easily qualify for the LOA. That the RV-4 is still with us more than 40 years since its introduction says a lot about the design and the desire of builders to have this lightweight marvel. Originally an all-wood design, the KR-2S has a combination of wood and fiberglass—those parts are premolded—and those changes reportedly improve build time to just 800 hours. Trike or taildragger configurations are available.

Unloading a kit at your home or hangar is a simple and easy two-person task! Packaging and loading for domestic Quick Build Kits requires a $350 packing and materials fee. Then in 1985 I got hooked up again with a grade-school buddy, Tom Glaeser. We’d separated for several years while we were both starting careers and families. At his urging, I bought the pretty well beat-up 1946 C-120.

You can either fly the aircraft cross-country to an event, or utilize the SubSonex's easily removable outboard wing panels to transport the aircraft in a compact trailer. We’re talking airplanes whose cues come from the very earliest days of aviation. With the big Rotec radial, the full-sized Camel is good for 93 mph. Another option is a large VW-based engine, which does help keep the overall costs down. You can build any of the Airdrome designs for relatively little money and you’re almost certain to have the only one of its kind on your airport. For most of us, it is the single biggest draw on our resources other than taking care of necessities and our families.

Sonex Aircraft Sonex-B

Mike Van Wagenen, a Vietnam-era fighter pilot and Bede’s primary business partner and inspiration for the BD-10, took the reins of the entire project and pressed ahead. The biggest red flag for the project was when wrinkling appeared on the aircraft’s vertical tail after performing demo flights at the 1994 Reno Air Races. The tail was beefed up, and the next prototype, dubbed the PJ-1, was quickly built based on the redesign, and Van Wagenen’s new company, Peregrine Flight International, was born.

One advantage for the bottom line is that builders don’t need quite as extensive a tool set. Engines from the Lycoming O-290 up to the O-360 can be accommodated, and an S-18 with a 180-hp engine and constant-speed prop is said to go 180 mph in cruise and climb at a strong 1500 fpm. Currently, the full kit runs just over $20,000 for the two-seat taildragger.

I started sketching delta-winged light-plane concepts and used my newly acquired engineering knowledge to analyze their performance. Within a year, I set building such an airplane for myself as a life goal. People don’t say that the RV-3B is a thinking man’s airplane, which it most certainly is, at least during the construction.

The Beachner Special, the Durand biplane and the Polliwagen. I think a total of seven or eight of those airplanes—combined—were ever finished. I grew up building surfboards and had helped a friend rebuild a few VW engines, so when the Q2 came along, I was all over that.

Stroke Aircraft Engines

I ought to know because I decided to build one, mostly to have a fulfilling project, and it has been that and more for sure. My kits were delivered in 2012, and I’ve been at it since. And yes, it’ll have a full-time big engine, and it’ll make those loud engine sounds that I no longer enjoy.

This, I should add, is very similar to Brain Carpenter’s Rainbow Aviation LSA repairman/inspection class, except their focus is Rotax engines. In both cases I came away more knowledgeable and with a healthy respect for the factory guidelines. Back in about 1987, I was 36 years old, with very little money and a logbook with about 180 hours in it. The preceding three years had contained one wrenching experience after another, and I was ready to do something, anything, positive.

Building economically can be done, but you’re going to be part of the cost savings. Kitplanes.com and the Kitplanes logo are protected properties under international copyright law. There’s a mystique about WW-I planes that will live forever. We all built trailers to get our planes to the shows and back home. In between those years, time was spent getting a degree, starting a career, marrying the girl of my dreams , restoring a 1946 C-120, and learning to fly the C-120.

We’ll guide you step by step on the journey of building one of the most versatile, safe and quality aircraft on the market. Our kit aircraft are built in a factory that maintains Part 23 standards. Craftsman quality exists in every part that Kitfox manufactures. AUSTIN, TEXAS, MAY 17, 2021 – Bearhawk Aircraft announced today the first flight of a Bearhawk Companion, side-by-side two-place aircraft. The Companion is a utility aircraft with backcountry flying...

Until I stood next to one and realized I’d never fit in an airplane I could step over. With over 30 years of development and testing and over a million accumulated flight hours, it’s no wonder the Kitfox has the safest record in the industry. Below are some images of the testing that the Kitfox has gone through in conjunction with solid engineering and flight testing. A light sport airplane that delivers comfort and performance. When it comes to support, it's hard to beat the Van's experience.

I roll and pitch aggressively on nearly all flights but don’t need tiddlywink aerobatics. Zooming up and over the clouds on sunset flights is glorious, and the big engine means you don’t have to look at your watch to see if anything is happening when you lay on the loud lever. Cross-country stability is excellent, and the world looks great framed by those two wings and crossing stainless steel wires. These modifications are not ones I would recommend to a first-time builder, at least not the flap change, because such changes tend to complicate and extend the building process. My previous planes were all built according to the plans, although I did later switch my first GlaStar to conventional gear from its original tricycle configuration. It is only now, on my fourth project, that I am customizing things from the beginning.

For some builders, the desire to move toward the most sophisticated, capable end of the spectrum piles on cost, complexity and build time. Instead, at this price level for a new kitbuilt, we’re talking basic, fun airplanes meant for good-weather flying. But, if you think about it, that’s where many of us started, making a light, simple airplane a welcome bit of homecoming for experienced pilots. The key here is to keep the endpoint of the project in mind—what does the design want to be?

I’d spent a lot of time at Oshkosh watching airplanes go by. Some looked OK, some looked…well, not so OK, most were just blah…and a few caught my eye as just looking right. One guy who seemed to get it right was Bob Barrows, designer of the four-seat Bearhawk. I liked his tandem Patrol even better, and when he came out with the LSA version, I liked it best of all. The Violinist surprised me with a set of plans for Christmas. I convinced a couple of airpark neighbors to join me, and in 2013 we formed the Pudding River Bearhawk LLC. The resulting airplane, now known as the ForeverHawk, should fly in 2019.
